In 2022, Sinotruk International, a Chinese truck manufacturer, would invest $20 million (about Sh46 billion) in a (CKD) manufacturing unit in Tanzania. A knock-down kit is a set of parts that must be assembled to complete a product. The pieces are usually made in one region or country and then shipped to the other for assembly.
According to Li Zhongyuan, country manager of Sinotruk International, the investment will help Tanzania's transportation and logistics business flourish. "We will never abandon our commitment to provide excellent service to our customers." "Our main goal is to supply Tanzania with elevated services and products so that we can all work together to build a promising future," he explained.
He was addressing in Dar es Salaam during an event in which Sinotruk's automotive company, Galco, turned over Hundred massive unit trucks to GSM Tanzania. Mr. Zhongyuan stated that once the proposed manufacturing factory is completed, the corporation will eventually create 500 vacancies for Tanzanians and support the country's automotive and industrial growth.
Mount Meru, Dangote, GSM, Oilcom (T) Limited, Golden Coach/Fleet Ltd, Asas, Azam, and Tanzania Road Haulage (1980) Limited are a few well-known organizations with which Sinotruk has built long-term ties. "Sinotruk is contributing to the aggressive establishment of an effective logistical automotive industry in Tanzania," he added, citing his company's cross-border services and strong domestic services capabilities.
GSM The Tanzanian firm's collaboration with Sinotruk, according to Allan Chonjo, Chief Commercial Officer, will boost productivity and efficiency in their automobile sector. "This is a terrific day for our stakeholders and GSM within and outside of Tanzania since we have increased the number of commercial trucks on our inventory to 800," Mr. Chonjo said.
For almost a decade, GSM has participated in the transportation of commodities on trucks of more than 30 tonnes both outside and within our boundaries through Galco, its sibling transportation company. Presently, the corporation serves the DRC, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, South Sudan, and Kenya.
Sinotruk had marketed its goods in far more than 110 regions and countries, with a commercial truck distribution capability of roughly 50,000 units per year. For the past 17 years, it has ranked #1 in China's heavy-duty vehicle sector.
