Honda’s sports bike series CBR debuted in 1983. Its flagship sports bike – CBR1000RR – was introduced in 1992 as the most lightweight and compact bike in its class. The CBR1000RR is also known as the ‘Fireblade’ in some countries, which was launched by Honda in 2004 as the 7th generation of the CBR series of motorcycles. The CBR1000RRs are known to be magic machines, combining sharp handling with light weight and awesome performance. These beasts are at home both on the track as well as on the streets.
Powered by a liquid cooled 999cc four cylinder engine, the CBR1000RR produces 189bhp and 114Nm of torque. Standard features on the bike include C-ABS, digital instrumental console, telescopic forks in front and gas charged ones at the rear. The superbike is also equipped with twin-LED headlamps, multiple air vents, aerodynamic winglets, full-colour five-inch TFT-screen and a sharp tail section.
Honda currently offers two variants of the bike - CBR1000RR-R and the CBR1000RR-R SP. Both feature a longer wheelbase, rake and trail that deliver improved stability. Both variants also have Showa’s new three-level Honda Electronic Steering Damper, along with a more advanced Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), and multi-level selectable wheelie control.
The SP variant is equipped with an Öhlins Smart EC system that optimizes damping characteristics according to road conditions, and Brembo front calipers. To reduce weight and centralize mass, the SP is equipped with a lithium ion battery, and a worldwide production model-first titanium fuel tank.
